September 15, 1977:
Unnamed parish canonically established by the Most Rev. Paul J. O'Byrne, Bishop of Calgary. Father Stan Henke named pastor. The parish boundaries comprise that portion of the City of Calgary that lies west of Sarcee Trail and extension thereof, and north of the Bow River to the city limits on the north and west.
September 1977:
First parish Mass celebrated in Silver Springs Elementary School with about three hundred people in attendance.
October 5, 1977:
Approval given by Bishop O'Byrne for the name St. Peter's Parish.
January 1, 1978:
Sunday Liturgies were moved from Silver Springs Elementary School to St. Sylvester School.
July 1978:
Temporary "portable church" (six 12'x54' Atco trailers with seating for 230 people erected on current site of church.
July 1978:
Catholic Women's League receives its Charter. Mrs. Francis Frey, first president.
May 12, 1979:
First wedding at St. Peter's - Dominic Montessano and Brenda Dadswell.
November 9, 1979:
First funeral - Mrs. Margaret Reddy.
June 1982:
Knights of Columbus Council, St. John Bosco council #8146, formed. Don Gartner, First Grand Knight.
November 1982:
First Baptism Preparation course by Baptism Support Volunteer Group.
May 13, 1983:
Father Byran Frank joins the parish as associate pastor.
June 1983:
Ground-breaking ceremony for the start of construction of the new church.
January 28, 1984:
First Holy Mass in our new church. Thirteen babies were baptized that day.
March 2, 1984:
Official blessing of St. Peter's Church by Bishop Paul O'Byrne.
September 16, 1984:
Sunday School for 3 to 5 year olds established.
September 1984:
Mothers' Support Group programme established.
October 1984:
First round of the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) begins.
May 1985:
Father Frank transferred to Lethbridge. Replaced by Father Louis Quennell.
May 1985:
First group of RCIA catechumens join our faith community.
July 1987:
Father Fred Monk comes to our parish as associate pastor.
September 1987:
St. Peter's faith community celebrates its tenth anniversary.
September 1988:
Father Jack Pereira comes to our parish as associate pastor.
July 20, 1989:
Father Henke transferred to Holy Name Parish and Father Pereira transferred to become pastor of St. George's Parish in Hanna. Father Lawrence J. Bagnall is appointed pastor of St. Peter's parish.
September 1989:
Anniversary Garden at the front of the church is established.
May 1991:
Children's Sunday Liturgy programme (ages 5 through 11) is established.
May 24, 1992:
Knights of Columbus presents stained glass window to the parish to commemorate 500 years of Christianity.
July 30, 1992:
Father Bagnall leaves for a one-year sabbatical (Malawi, Jerusalem). Father Brian F. Hubka becomes our new pastor.
September 1992:
Brother Joseph Thuan Nguyen, OP, arrives as deacon. Ordained as priest on May 28, 1993; he returned to St. Peter's as assistant priest in August 1993.
Good Friday 1993:
First annual outdoor Procession with the Cross.
November 19, 1993:
Blessing of Monsignor E.L. Doyle Elementary School.
July 31, 1994:
Father Nguyen transferred to Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
October 17, 1994:
Blessing of St. Maria Goretti Elementary School.
January 11, 1995:
Decision to form st. Peter's Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
May 31, 1995:
Blessing of representation of Mary.
November 1997:
Father Aguinaldo Fermo comes to our parish as associate pastor.
May 1998:
Blessing of statue of March, pleased in the northeast exit of the church.
December 10, 1999:
Blessing of St. Ambrose Elementary/Jr. High School.
April 15, 2000:
Stained glass window installed (and designed) by Jim Osenton, in Mary's corner; materials supplied by the Knights of Columbus.
August 1, 2002:
Father Hubka leaves to study Canon Law in Ottawa. Father Bill Corcoran becomes our new pastor.
August 1, 2007:
Father Corcoran transferred to St. Mary's Parish in Cochrane. Father Michael Storey becomes our new pastor.
August 1, 2009:
Father Storey transferred to St. Mary's in Brooks. Father Avinash Colaco becomes our new pastor.
