Volunteering at St. Peter’s is an exciting part of being a church community. While exciting, it carries with it a big responsibility to care for and protect the vulnerable (Children, Teens, Elderly) in our Parish. There are 3 requirements that The Diocese of Calgary has put in place for volunteers in each parish.
1. Every volunteer must agree to and sign the Model Code of Conduct.
2. A series of educational modules by Praesidium called Armatus, will be available online for volunteers to do in the comfort of their own home. The Armatus program takes the place of the old ‘Called to Protect’ program that was run out of St. Peter’s. It is also the tool for the required refresher training, which should take place at least every two years. This training is mandatory for anyone volunteering with the Vulnerable Sector at St. Peter’s.
3. For each Ministry that works with the vulnerable, it is necessary that we have a Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check (VSPIC) on file with the Diocese.
