Alpha

What is it?

Alpha is an open and welcoming space to explore the big questions of life and the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly, nonjudgmental environment. Whether you’re new to faith, returning after time away, or simply curious, Alpha is a place to ask questions, share thoughts, and build community.

Each Alpha session follows a simple format:

  • Shared Meal – Come together over a delicious meal

  • Talk or Video – Explore the Christian faith and life’s big questions

  • Discussion – Engage in honest, open conversations in small groups

Alpha typically runs in the fall at St. Peter’s and is free of charge.

How to Participate

Alpha is open to everyone – Catholic or not, practicing or exploring, skeptical or seeking. You don’t need to bring anything but yourself and a willingness to ask questions. There’s no pressure, no follow-up, and no cost.

If you’re curious about faith or simply looking for connection and community, Alpha is a great place to start.

How to Volunteer

Alpha is powered by volunteers who help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. There are several ways to serve:

  • Meal Preparation, Serving & Clean-Up – Help when you’re available. Great for those who want to support Alpha without a weekly commitment.

  • Table Leaders – Facilitate group discussion and create a respectful, engaging environment.

  • Table Helpers – Support the table leader, welcome guests, and assist with conversation.

Whether you enjoy cooking, connecting with people, or simply offering a helping hand, there’s a role for you.

What They Need from Volunteers

  • Table Volunteers – Leaders and helpers are asked to serve consistently throughout the Alpha series to foster trust and continuity.

  • Meal Volunteers – Come when you’re available to help with food prep, serving, or clean-up.

  • Hospitality & Openness – A warm, welcoming presence and a heart for listening go a long way.

Alpha is an incredible opportunity to help others encounter Christ while building relationships in the parish community. Volunteers often find their own faith deepened in the process.
