FIRST RECONCILIATION & EUCHARIST

What are these sacraments?

The Sacrament of First Reconciliation (also called Confession or Penance) allows children to encounter God’s mercy in a personal way through the forgiveness of sins. Before receiving First Holy Communion, children must first be prepared for and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

First Holy Communion is the moment a child receives the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time during Mass. This sacred milestone marks a deepening of their participation in the life of the Church and is a joyful celebration for the whole parish community.

Preparing at St. Peter’s

Our combined program for First Reconciliation and First Communion typically runs from fall to spring and includes a blend of in-person gatherings and home-based learning. A typical year includes:

  • One Parent Gathering Session for each sacrament
  • Six Family Sessions per sacrament (child + at least one parent/guardian)
  • A retreat for each sacrament
  • Celebration of First Reconciliation (January 17th, 2026)
  • Celebration of First Communion (June 6th & 7th, 2026)

Specific dates and times will be available at the first session.

Our sessions this year will be offered on Mondays and Tuesdays from 6pm until 7:30pm.

Our Parent Gathering will take place on September 29th & 30th, 2025 (please note, you only need to pick one session to attend).

Registration for St. Peter’s First Reconciliation and Communion for the 2025/2026 year is open.

Please use this form to register for these Sacrament Preparation programs if your child is school aged. This includes Elementary school ages (7-11 years). For students in High School (12-16), please register under the Sacrament of Confirmation.
